Stop me if you've heard this before: Nelly Korda won a golf tournament. You've actually heard it five times since January.
Runs like this don’t happen often. Players like Nelly don’t come often. Simply put, it's Nelly's world and we're all just living in it.
In stroke play during Nelly's five tournament win streak (per @JustinRayGolf on X):
No one can stop @NellyKorda. 💪 World No. 1 became just the third player EVER to notch five straight wins on the LPGA Tour. She striped it off-the-tee and put herself in spots to score all week hitting 75% of fairways to help capture her second major title. #Qi10Driver pic.twitter.com/QW4wcI3rvs— TaylorMade Golf (@TaylorMadeGolf) 22 avril 2024

Nelly secured her second major title at the Chevron Championship, marking her fifth win in five consecutive starts becoming the third player in LPGA Tour history to win five straight. Korda became the first American to win five times in a season since 1999 (it's only April!).
Entering the final round, Korda had a 32,3% chance to win the tournament (according to KPMG insights) trailing by one shot and after chipping in on the 10th hole for birdie Korda ballooned to a 91% chance to win. Korda held strong as multiple competitors attempted to chase her down and she finished on 18 with a birdie to win by 2-strokes at 13-under (68-69-69-69).
World No. 1 Korda and fellow Team TaylorMade athlete and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler are the second pair of World No. 1's to win majors in consecutive weeks since the inception of the Rolex Rankings in 2006. Korda and Scheffler play Qi10 Max driver and Qi10 driver respectively. The win marks Korda's 13th on the LPGA Tour.
“Nelly was looking to bring the spin down, especially on her driver, so we did some testing in September. We saw the benefits of TP5x in her driver and irons bringing the spin down a couple hundred RPMs. Then, around the greens, her launch on chips was a little bit lower and she generated more spin around the greens with TP5x than TP5. She produced a lot more check in a preferred trajectory coming off of the TP5x versus the TP5. She’s been happy with the ball ever since.” Ryan Ressa, TaylorMade Senior Tour Manager
WHY NELLY PLAYS P·770 P·7MC COMBO SET
Korda has played a P·770 and P·7MC combo set since joining Team TaylorMade at the beginning of the 2023 season going with a P·770 5-iron and P·7MC in 6-PW. Korda chose P·770 because of the height and spin it produces and P·7MC for more workability.
In initial testing with her long irons (5-6), Nelly aimed to add height to hold greens from distances of 180-200 yards. Her P·770 5-iron seamlessly answered this requirement, providing an additional 15-feet in height and delivering perfect carry distances. The pairing with P·7MC irons delivered Nelly tighter dispersion and precise distance control. For the tournament, Korda hit 79% of greens in regulation.
A crucial change to Korda’s irons came at the 2023 LPGA Drive On Championship in Phoenix when our TaylorMade tour reps hard stepped Korda’s irons to minimize the draw and stiffen them slightly. Since the change, Nelly has won four times.
