If you've ever checked in at a golf shop, taken a lesson, or played in a scramble, you likely have a golf pro to thank. They wake up with the sun to open the shop, pick the range and make sure all the pins are placed. Within the walls of TaylorMade, we call them Crusaders because they're on the frontline helping golfers everywhere find more joy in the game. The backdrop in the photo above lists the names of every Crusader that makes is possible for us to play the game.
Many are members of the largest working sports organization in world, the 28 000 strong who proudly wear the traditional blue and gold of the association.
Our 2022 Pro Championship collection reflects the history, values, and mission of this esteemed group. They live by strict code to: "establish and elevate the standards of the profession and to grow interest and participation in the game of golf."
That statement is written on the base of our 2022 staff bag, with "1916" on the handle highlighting the association's founding year. Looks peel back the layers and search for the easter eggs that truly make this collection unique.
It all started in 1916 with the famous lunch at the Taplow Club in New York City, where founding member Rodman Wanamaker invited an elite group of golf pros to form the association. The collection honors that lunch meeting with the "9th on 9th" insignia, reflecting the locale: au 9e étage sur la 9th Street. Wanamaker's initials are boldly embroidered onto the headcover.
From there, the association grew rapidly, reaching every corner of the Unites States and spanning the globe. The 141 on the upper pocket encapsulates the 14 Districts and 41 Sections that map the group’s regional operations.
A wide variety of venues have hosted this championship. The interior lining has images of each state that has hosted and how many times. If you’re wondering, 26 different states have hosted this championship, more than any other major.
The headcover collection honors association founder and trophy namesake, Rodman Wanamaker, with his initials on the driver cover. 141 on both the fairway and hybrid covers mirror the insignia on the upper pocket of the staff bag, acknowledging the 14 Districts and 41 Sections spanning the U.S. The putter covers feature a classic blue and gold color scheme.
