The ANA Inspiration is one of five major championships in professional women’s golf. This year not only marks its 50th anniversary, but it has also returned to being the first major of the season!
Team TaylorMade has been dialing in players' bags to meet the challenge of Mission Hills Country Club. So, let’s get straight into it and take a look how Charley Hull, Maria Fassi and S.H. Park are setting up their equipment this week.
Charley arrived at Mission Hills raring to go and caught up with TaylorMade's Adrian Rietveld to make a notable change to her setup. Charley is a well known traditionalist and feel-based player. So, when she approached Adrian to look at her putter, he wasn't surprised that she opted to game a TP Soto.
“We spent a lot of time this week on Charley’s putting stroke looking for better rhythm and timing and she’s found it with her TP Soto. We took her previous gamer and built up the Soto in her exact specs and as I talked through the benefits of Pure Roll technology, she unsurprisingly just wanted to use it. Once she got it in her hands it was all about the look and feel. We marked a line down the middle of her TP5x and recorded her hitting the ball in slow motion and once she saw the line staying straight and the ball moving, she could clearly see the difference with the Soto vs. her previous gamer. By adding half an inch to the putter she’s also noticed better distance control and consistency, which she loved. She played 18 holes yesterday and once she got off the course it was straight in the bag." - Adrian Rietveld | Senior Manager, Tour | TaylorMade Golf
With no other changes to her bag, watch out for Charley this week!
As one of the longest hitters on the LPGA, Maria Fassi’s relishing the opportunity to tackle the famous "Poppie’s Pond" at the 18th this week, as the 561-yard par 5 with an island green always plays a significant role in determining each year’s champion.
With a unique SIM2 metalwood setup, Maria found consistency in her SIM2 driver as she feels she can go after it a lot more vs. her previous gamer. Loving the look of SIM2 Titanium fairway, she completes the top end of her bag with a SIM2 Max 7-wood, which could be her secret weapon this week.
“I love the way SIM2 Max looks on the 7-wood, I can get it up in the air as high as I can. I use this club a lot on par 5’s so it’s perfect. It lands soft and it’s been amazing the past few weeks.” - Maria Fassi
S.H. Park arrived at the ANA Inspiration and got straight down to business on the range. Not making any adjustments to her setup, the World No. 12 is one to look out for.
