When Martin Couvra teed it up for his first full season on the DP World Tour, few could have predicted just how quickly he’d make his presence felt. By the end of 2025, the Frenchman had not only announced himself as one of golf’s brightest young talents but had earned the prestigious Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award.
- Race to Dubai Ranking: Finished 19th overall
- Maiden Victory: Turkish Airlines Open (-17 total, final-round 64)
- Top Finishes: 7 top-10s including runner-up at the Italian Open, T4 at Bahrain Championship, T5 at Qatar Masters
- Rolex Series Debut: BMW PGA Championship (T13)
- Major Debut: The Open Championship at Royal Portrush
- Official World Golf Ranking: 136
Couvra’s season was defined by a blend of steady play and flashes of brilliance. His breakthrough win in Turkey came just five months into his rookie campaign, where a bogey-free final round of 64 sealed victory.
“I am really, really happy to win this award. You only have one time in your career when it is your rookie season,” said Couvra. “It surprised me winning so early in Turkey, but we work every day for it. That win gave me a lot of confidence. When you win one tournament on this tour, you think you can do it again, so it is all about confidence for me.”
The Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award isn’t just a title; it’s a statement. It recognises a player who embodies promise, professionalism, and the ability to elevate their game on the biggest stage. For Couvra, it’s validation of years of hard work and a clear sign that his journey is only beginning.
"We couldn’t be prouder of what Martin has achieved this year. His commitment, confidence, and ability to perform under pressure reflect everything we stand for as a brand. Watching him lift the Rookie of the Year award is a testament to his talent and the hard work behind the scenes. This is just the beginning for Martin, and we’re excited to support him every step of the way."- Mark Thistleton, Senior TaylorMade Tour Representative
With a breakout season behind him, the question isn’t whether Martin Couvra will win—it’s when. His trajectory points toward a future filled with opportunity, and if 2025 was any indication, golf fans should expect to see his name in contention for years to come.
