Tommy Fleetwood breaks through in epic fashion for his first PGA TOUR victory at the TOUR Championship winning the FedEx Cup with Qi35 driver, Spider Tour putter and TP5x pix™.
Tommy led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (8.148) with his Spider Tour and finished seventh Strokes Gained Approach (2.637) with his TP5x pix™ golf ball. He entered the final round tied for the lead and made five birdies en route to a three-shot victory.
Since the inception of the FedEx Cup, Tommy is the first player to claim his first PGA TOUR victory at the TOUR Championship.
WHY TOMMY PLAYS Qi35 DRIVER
Tommy has become notorious for his unique bag set ups, especially at the top of the bag. In the win Tommy’s top of the bag was driver, mini driver, 5-wood, 9-wood, 5-iron. As the kids say...electric!!
When it came to fitting Tommy for his Qi35 driver, matching his spec to his previous gamer was the starting point, looking for performance gains with different head and shaft options. Tommy gravitated towards a pairing of Qi35 Driver and Ventus Red 6X Velocore+, finding speed gains and optimal spin rates.
He played Ventus Red 6X until the Travelers Championship where he made the switch back to his Ventus TR Blue 6X he had played for numerous years prior. Ventus Red Velo+ features a stiff handle whereas Ventus TR Blue 6X has a stiff tip. The switch to Blue presented Tommy the ability to kill spin down to 2400 RPM without sacrificing loft to gain more distance to have proper gapping with his new R7 Quad Mini.
By also adding slightly more loft in the driver head, launch went up creating better dispersion which meant that Tommy found it easier to draw the ball; his natural shot shape.

FIRST PGA TOUR WIN FOR TP5x pix™
Tommy is as exacting as they come when it comes to his gear and preparation. During an in-depth putting session with his coach in 2021, they discovered his previous alignment aid (the widely used thin Sharpie line along a white golf ball) was causing fractional misalignments for Tommy. At times he felt like he was pointed directly at his target, but there was a slight variance in “feel vs. real” that could show up at critical moments during competition.
This discovery first pushed Fleetwood to start using pix as a practice aid. He drew a thick Sharpie line in the middle of the Clear Path Alignment to further enhance alignment and feedback on the roll.
During the 2021 CJ CUP @ Summit, Fleetwood went to work with TaylorMade Tour Rep Adrian Rietveld for on-course testing Tommy’s normal TP5x versus his TP5x pix.
Tommy hit two balls of every shot for six holes – one pix and one white TP5x. Drives, iron shots, bunkers, putts. Every shot, both balls played, and each result measured. The performance was the same time after time.
After that extensive session, Fleetwood came to the first tee the following morning with his TP5x pix – marked with the same thick line he used for practice. That’s the ball he has played ever since.
“You hit different shots at different times…sometimes you want to float one up, sometimes you want to penetrate the wind and sometimes you want it to hold its line in a cross wind. The ability of TP5x to do all those things at different times, the stability of it and how it holds its line makes the TaylorMade ball the best ball I’ve hit and seen perform in the wind.”Tommy Fleetwood
THE MINI DRIVER KING
Tommy notoriously became one of the first PGA TOUR players to bring the mini driver back to the forefront when he put BRNR Mini in the back at the RBC Heritage in 2023. He has played a mini driver in every event since and switched to the all-new R7 Quad Mini at the Travelers Championship.
With the ability to manipulate weighting in every direction, TaylorMade Senior Tour Manager Adrian Rietveld manipulated CG forward and to the heel so Tommy can continue to hit his patented mini driver draw and additionally knocked down spin to 3000 RPM.
"Everybody knows I’m a mini driver guy. I haven’t had a three wood in my bag in three years and the mini has been a staple part of my bag. Most of the time it’s going to be a club that I hit off the tee hitting 280 to be about 20 yards less than my driver. Everyone associates me as a drawer of the golf ball, but I actually hit driver with a very straight ball flight. So, if I need to turn one right-to-left, the mini for me is a push up to the right side and let it turn over. Off the deck, the head is not as shallow as a three wood so I’m going to catch it a little bit more off the bottom, but the mini driver still holds its spin and still launches high enough. For me, it’s actually as good or even better than off the tee."Tommy Fleetwood

THE SWITCH TO SPIDER
On Monday of the 2025 RBC Heritage, Tommy spent two hours testing both Spider ZT and a Spider Tour Black to try and correct for his tendency to aim slightly left and arrive at impact with a closed face. A flatter Spider Tour allowed him to get his hands lower at address and create a natural face opening and arc back into his stroke.
Tommy loved the micro-milled alignment aid on the zero-torque putter, so he and our putter rep, James Holley, recreate the milled sight line on his Spider Tour with a ruler and a sharpie.
Tommy said that the thick lines allow him to put the putter down, not have to rely on a line on the ball and just hit the putt. There are five silver sharpie lines on the left and right with a brown line in the middle serving as the traditional short line alignment aid. He told us that the width of all of these lines together makes it easy to visualize a center face strike.

"The fact that I now have a nice big line projecting to help me line up behind the ball, I just have to pick my line, walk in and set the putter up on that line and my decision's made. I think that sometimes you stand over the putt and you are adjusting all the time because it doesn't feel right. Having something on the top of the putter has actually really made a difference to my routine as well."Tommy Fleetwood
