It’s only June, but it’s already been quite a year here at TaylorMade. The early part of the year saw our Qi35 lines of drivers and fairway woods receive rave reviews in the marketplace. Just last month Spider ZT putters came to market and have flown off the shelves since. But we’re far from done in 2025…
Introducing all-new MG PROTO wedges. At The Memorial Tournament just a few weeks ago, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood spent some time testing MG PROTO wedges with our resident wedge guru, Greg Cesario and Global Director of Wedge Category, Matt Bovee.
Check out the clips below for our three biggest takeaways from their testing.
A STICKY FACE FOR ADDED SPIN
As he states in the video above, Collin loves the fact that the ball sticks to the face and comes off slower and with enhanced spin with MG PROTO wedges. This gives him an added layer of control around the green. Those performance benefits are derived from the Tour-inspired raw finish.
Collin also notes the soft feel that the fully forged heads deliver.
NEW GRINDS FOR INCREASED VERSATILITY AND GREATER CONTROL
For Tommy, the wider sole and slightly less bounce allow him to swing with speed out of the bunker to create more spin, but without increasing ball speed – the ideal combination for maximum control. He also notes that the design of MG PROTO wedges allows him an increased margin of error in terms of strike without sacrificing performance.
Exceptional feel, ample versatility, and spin retention make MG PROTO wedges ideal for golfers of all abilities looking to take their game to the next level.
